Getting started...

I feel that if we want WYWH released on SACD, we are going to have to do much more than simple online work. We're going to need to find the decision makers and provide convincing arguments that WYWH on SACD format would produce sales of the album, and that it is in their interest to do so.

However, to get things started, I have created an online petition, - primarily with the objective of gauging interest. And I do encourage anyone reading this site, or anyone hoping for a WYWH release to sign it.

We're going to have to do much more than this. Getting something done with large companies requires quite a few tactics, and a lot of momentum if they're going to have any effect at all - and this is likely but one of many.

But this is one we can start now. So, Please click here to sign.

Introduction

The purpose of this site is one focused goal: to collect information regarding, and to encourage EMI/Capitol to finally release of Pink Floyd's "Wish You Were Here" album on SACD.

Many rumors and dates have been floating around the web over the past five years about the iminent release of this title on SACD.

Pink Floyd's Dark Side Of The Moon has already been released on SACD (in 2003), and is still widely available. The band has been quoted as saying that they are happy with the SACD format, and the DSOTM reissue has met with reasonable success.

The 30 year anniversary of the WYWH album came and went without a release, and more recent rumors state the following:

In 2008, a February 2008 release date was rumored (stated by Strom Thorgerson himself) which came and went. While anticipation is still very high for this title, some worry that it may never see the light of day on SACD due to, perhaps, perception at EMI/Capitol management that there is no demand.

This site aims to at least attempt to consolidate information on the matter, as well as serve as a lead point to try to convince EMI/Capitol that yes, Wish You Were Here is still very much desired on SACD.

Note that at this time, I don't have any more information than most people do about this possible release. The goal however is to provide one front, complimentary to Pink Floyd fansites such as brain-damage.co.uk (no affiliation) dedicated to encouraging the release of, and gathering information regarding the release of this album.
